Profile

As a member of the UK’s Green Party, Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, I have been passionate about environmental issues ever since university. I graduated with a double honours degree in French and Spanish then moved to Madrid to work as a TEFL teacher and immediately fell in love with Spain!

Working for Greenpeace in Madrid, I learned about marketing and communicating environmental campaigns, including over-fishing, French nuclear testing, deforestation and the damaging effects of PVC.

After volunteering as a translator at Greenpeace Chile, I joined Friends of the Earth in the U.K., where I managed fundraising projects and supporter communications. Our campaigns centred around climate change, GMOs, organic food and the WTO.

In 2010 I passed the Diploma in Translation with merit and began working as a freelance translator for the environmental sector.

Through continued professional development I have learned about the damaging social and environmental effects of the fashion industry. This hugely complex sector impacts workers rights, gender equality, water and sanitation, deforestation, responsible consumption and climate change - objectives of the sustainable development goals.

Innovation and technology are reasons for hope, so I focus my linguistic skills on communicating environmental sustainability and promoting a circular economy.
